LA Lakers To Trade Andrew Bynum For Chris Bosh?

The NBA trade rumor mill was on overdrive today as this headline crossed my browser:

"LA Lakers To Trade Andrew Bynum For Chris Bosh"

Frankly I don't think there's any chance in hell that the Los Angeles Lakers would ever trade Andrew Bynum for Chris Bosh...

If anything I think this is some Phil Jackson psycho motivational stuff. Maybe he leaked it to the media I don't know. Have the young center discover through the media that the most popular NBA franchise wants to unload him for some other talented guy and see how he reacts because babying the big fella obviously hasn't worked and it's pretty clear that Bynum hasn't really gelled well with the Lakers "other" star player Pau Gasol...

But getting back to this trade rumor why would you trade Andrew Bynum for Chris Bosh when Chris Bosh is virtually the same player as Pau Gasol?

Chris Bosh is a low post player with good mid-range jumper but you bring him onto this Lakers team and I don't think there's going to be enough balls to go around. Especially the way is chucking up shots you know trying to find his shot when his finger is broken and he can't feel it half the time...

Andrew Bynum is already in the top five of NBA centers both because he's a really talented big guy and because there's a dearth of talent at that position. Not too many 7 footers running around on the planet apparently.

Beyond all that he provides the Los Angeles Lakers what Chris Bosh can't provide and what very few players in the NBA can provide... an inside presence.

That and the fact that he can go 20 points and 10 rebounds whenever you need him to is why you don't trade him away.

Trade Andrew Bynum away... who comes up with this stuff?

Pau Gasol’s Hamstrings Have Become A Strain On The LA Lakers

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Chemistry, continuity, and cohesion are three elements, if possessed by a talented team, that are capable of thrusting them into the throes of destiny. The three words are familiar to the Los Angeles Lakers because they are the primary reason for the Lakers' championship march of 2009.

Two of them, continuity and chemistry, are threatened by various factors which have materialized as the season has progressed. The addition of forward Ron Artest pushes the continuity issue, as he is the newest piece to a team that benefited from having the same roster in 2009 as it did in 2008.

Having a roster fully in tune to the complexities of the triangle offense was a definite contributing factor in the Lakers' success in 2009, but, to be honest, Artest has assimilated into the Laker scheme quite well, although there is room for adjustment.

More worrisome are the twin hamstring injuries suffered by Pau Gasol before the season is even half-way done. Fatigue appears to be the culprit due to Gasol's time spent spent competing for his native Spanish team this summer.

The situation presents some challenges to the Lakers' chemistry, because at times they have been the definition of precision, seemingly comfortable within the confines and rhythms of the Laker flow.

Their post combination of Gasol and center Andrew Bynum were perceived as one of the strengths of the team, but there have been signals that their union may not be as stable as once thought.

On offense they have struggled for space and positioning, as Bynum has attempted to discover his identity while Gasol is in the game.
