The Boston Celtics are on a mission and after watching them play for a few weeks now I'm pretty much convinced that the Celtics don't take any games off and that they're on a mission to capture their second NBA title this year. And watching Lakers basketball pull off the win yesterday was very satisfying but I still don't think the Lakers are as strong defensively as the Celtics.
The Lakers in beating the Celtics yesterday played the type of defense down the stretch that they played at the beginning of the season and have been unable to muster for their past few games and for the last few weeks.
The biggest difference between Lakers Basketball and the Celtics is the intensity at which the Boston Celtics play defense.
The Lakers can score, there's no question about that, but can they stop the other team from scoring when they need to? Well they did last night when it counted and Pau Gasol who was labeled soft in last years final plaed some gritty offense and defense down the stretch when the Lakers needed him to score because Kobe Bryant was being double teamed.
This was a good win obviously for Lakers Basketball but they're still not as good as Boston and they're going to need some more offense to beat this team in a seven game series because I just don't see them buckling down and playing the kind of defense they need to play to beat the Celtics over a seven game series.
